This painting is heavy on texture.  The image is part of the earth object series.  I like to think of it as a hand clawing the earth.  A large hand on a macroscopic landscape.  Embedded in the canvas are etchings of acorns.

Milk Bottle with Tangerine, 7" x 7" , oil on canvas

This is another milk bottle painting. This bottle is actually a quart size, although the perspective I painted it from makes it look like a pint and a half. I should call it pint and a half with tangerine. I struggled with this image to find the area of interest and dominance. The tangerine is obvious, but I prefer what lies in the shadow areas.

This image is one from my earth objects series. This leaf was collected during a hike on the trail near my home in northern Virginia. Earth objects are images of objects that are scanned into my computer and manipulated in photoshop to extract the "skeleton" of the image. I then carve the image directly into wet gesso on canvas with the butt of a paintbrush. This is a "carving into process", that I have been developing for many years. The carving leaves a nice texture on the surface giving the image a sculptural look.

Tangerines in Venitian Bowl, 9 x 10, oil on canvas-daily painting

The bowl in this painting is one I bought several summers ago while traveling in Venice, Italy. The Venitians love their glass and this little bowl is one of my favorite finds. I have been thinking of painting it for a while, but was not up to the challenge. I spent three days capturing this image.

The painting is what I call a pinacle work. It is the end and the beginning of a series carrying images and symbols forward.
